Dear In The Soup supporters, It's been and up and down first two weeks for the 'Songs for Sweet Thing' Kickstarter. Friends of my work have come out and helped us get off to a good start, it's a reminder

of what a roller-coaster ride running a campaign like this can be. It's humbling in the most remarkable ways.

New awards are coming in this week . Derrick is adding new drawings of Steve Buscemi, Billie Holliday and Sam Rockwell and if you have seen his recent Peter Dinklage and Jennifer Beals drawings you know how great they are.

Old friend Jim Jarmuch has offered to give us a boost by giving us signed Dvd's of his films and music

from his band Squirrel. Avi has come up with a great poster (Check out his Dinklage poster as well!)

that Jim will sign with a personal note.

Jim Jarmuch poster by Avi

It' a limited printing so get one soon if you like it. I want one because if there is one director who embodies pure independence it's Jim.

I remember the day I happened upon his first feature 'Permanent vacation" playing at the Bleeker street Cinema. I think I was the only person in the small room and as soon the credits rolled I ran out to find a pay phone and called him. I introduced myself and begged him to give up music and make films. He thought I was crazy and he was right about that as well.

So, if Jim can get behind Sweet Songs for Sweet Thing I hope you can. You have done so much and I hope you are proud of what you have made possible.

If we are going to make our goal we need all hands on deck. If you have been meaning to contribute

now would be a good time and get Jim's signed poster before they are gone.

We have a lot of very cool awards coming out this week like coffees with cinema luminaires and visits to film sets so keep tuned.

Thank you so much and spread the news and we will make this happen together.

Sweet Thing, A Message From Alex Rockwell
about 5 years ago – Sun, Apr 28, 2019 at 10:28:32 PM

Hi everyone,

Alex Rockwell here.

You've all be so supportive of me in the past, and, for that, I'm truly grateful.

I'm coming to you now because my new film, Sweet Thing, needs your help. I am really proud of this film. Everyone who had a hand in it gave all they had to get it in the can. Whether it was Will Patton or my family or the crew, each person sacrificed a lot to get it where it is today. It feels strange to reach out to my friends this way, but this film is something I really think we can all get excited about. Not to mention you have all helped me tremendously in the past. Quite honestly I owe my filmmaking career to you all.

If you have already lent a hand to Sweet Thing, please try to spread the word to anyone you think may want to do the same.

(If you missed our previous updates, we’re running a campaign to fund our newest film, Sweet Thing. You can check out some promo for the film on the Kickstarter page)

That being said, whether you’ve checked out our new campaign or not, I’ve got some exciting news to share: we’re adding some fantastic new rewards to the Kickstarter! You’re going to love them.

Our first big haul is a new set of rewards generously offered by your favorite Lannister, Peter Dinklage! The rewards come in two flavors: an outgoing message for your voicemail recorded by Peter himself, and a signed photo of Peter. It’s peak Game of Thrones season, so if you’re interested, grab these fantastic rewards before they sell out!

Our second scoop: Derek Scocchera designed an absolutely beautiful Sweet Thing poster! Plus, we’ve got a special reward available for the poster, that will feature your name on the poster alongside the stars of the film!  We’re only offering five of these special posters, so don’t sleep on it.

Here's the most recent mock up of the poster:

We’re entering the final week If you plan on joining the effort please do it soon. We undersold ourselves with our original goal for the campaign, which we met rather quickly, and we need to finish off the campaign strong in order to get all of our music fully cleared for release.

Since you have been so integral in my past efforts, I want to show you a little clip from Sweet Thing:

Thank you all for your support, and a lovely Spring Sunday to you all!

Warmly,

Alexandre Rockwell Writer/Director . In The Soup, Little Feet, Sweet Thing.

Update of Rewards...And Seymour Cassel exclusive photo's from the In The Soup Archive
about 5 years ago – Mon, Apr 15, 2019 at 02:49:19 AM

Hey All!

98% of the awards have been sent out. We are still waiting for some of the personalized awards from talent and still working on a LA premiere of the new print.

We will have new big screen dates in Baltimore and Boston soon and will be available digitally in late May.

And sad news in the In The Soup family. Seymour Cassel passed away last week and wanted to share some photo's from the In the Soup archive in his memory.
